I design and make jewellery, working with silver, gold, resin, wood, semi precious and precious stones to create one off commissions and statement collections. Inspired by the human form, my aim is to make pieces, which sit comfortably on the body and perfectly illustrate my design philosophy.

I have a passion for working with silver, exploring this beautiful metal’s characteristics and showcasing it in its purest form, employing simple, elegant shapes that are highly polished or roughly hammered.

I am intrigued with fastenings and so the closing and opening mechanisms in my pieces often take centre stage, resulting in a playful dialogue between form and function. I like to invite the wearer to interact with the jewellery, to be aware of it through its weight, feel or the sounds that it makes.

Emma Jane Champley was born in England but spent most of her formative school years in Milan, surrounded and inspired by Italian art and architecture. Her artistic temperament mapped her path through the art school system and in 1994 she graduated with a BA Honours degree in Jewellery & Silversmithing from Loughborough College of Art and Design. She gained invaluable experience in the trade while working at a leading studio in London’s Jewellery Quarter, before moving to Ireland in 2003 where she now lives with her family.
